James Thorpe is the founder and director of Odd Culture Group, a multi-award-winning Sydney-based hospitality group known for venues such as The Duke of Enmore, Odd Culture Newtown, Bistro Grenier and The Pleasure Club, with a strong focus on inclusive, pokies-free, live music and community-oriented venues. James started his hospitality career during Sydney’s lockout law era and has since become a prominent voice in advocacy and industry leadership. He was elected Vice-Chair of the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), where he works to support and grow Australia’s night time economy through collaborative policy and practical solutions.
